The Staff and Family Enrichment (SaFE) program offers English-speaking ex-pats the opportunity to talk to someone outside your company. Through the SaFE program your staff and their family members will be able to voice their fears, their concerns, their hopes, even their joys CONFIDENTIALLY to a professional counselor. Parents will be able to discuss some of the questions they have about their children from birth through adolescence. Couples can use the SaFE program to improve their communication skills; teenagers and their parents can learn communication skills to help lessen tension within the family. Individuals can vent or address issues they would be uncomfortable discussing with anyone they know. Group Counseling |
Group counseling is often the place where people are introduced to the concept of talking about a problem. There is a feeling of relief when a person finds out that he or she is not the only one with certain feelings or going through a certain situation. Groups can help people open up or decide to pursue private sessions with a counselor.
Here's a sample list of some group topics: Life in Africa is not about safaris and souvenirs every day - adjustment issues Living instead of existing when there is turbulence in your country? What do you say to your small children and/or adolescents? Help! I need to control my anger! How do you deal with things that are happening with your family and loved ones in the States when you are so far away? Other groups are available or can be developed and presented as the need arises. |

Staff Presentations |
The goal of staff presentations is to achieve a level of understanding and acceptance that objectives can be met using the resources of all the staff, regardless of nationalities, belief systems, gender. Flexibility and blending of ideas are key components to bringing about any goal. Living in Africa and working with host country nationals, Americans and other foreigners has given Frances different insights and perspectives about the workplace. The richness of diverse cultures, work ethics, and personalities frequently cause frustration and disputes among workers when there is not agreement on how to get the work done. Frances has translated some American culture and work habits to local workers and to their American co-workers (who sometimes forget that there are differences) as well as giving the Americans some outlook on local practices. Frances can assist your staff in seeing that "different" does not mean "wrong" and change can benefit the corporation and the individual.
Here's a partial list of some presentation topics for your staff: 1. When does alcohol use become alcohol abuse? 2. Translating and tailoring anger management to fit host nation culture 3. Communication skills - does "bad" always mean "bad"? 4. Dealing with frustrations 5. HIV/AIDS in the workplace 6. What does time mean to you? |

HIV/AIDS Counseling |
HIV/AIDS - a malady that affects the home, business, even our leisure time. It's in people's conversations every day. Many people are touched by it on a personal basis but they do not want to talk about it every day. They want to hide from it, sometimes with the hope that it will just go away. HIV does not go away and it becomes a more prevalent part of a person's life with each passing day. People need to talk. Frances has worked with and continues to work with those infected with the disease as well as their family members. She has seen firsthand the changes in their lives and she has listened as people have cried and sometimes finally learned to laugh and live with this modern-day scourge. Her compassion, empathy, and knowledge give her the ability to be one of those who helps others to live positively with this disease. Frances can help those infected with the disease reveal their status to their loved ones and she can help the all of those involved live instead of exist. |
