The goal of staff presentations is to achieve a level of understanding and acceptance that objectives can be met using the resources of all the staff, regardless of nationalities, belief systems, gender. Flexibility and blending of ideas are key components to bringing about any goal. Living in Africa and working with host country nationals, Americans and other foreigners has given Frances different insights and perspectives about the workplace. The richness of diverse cultures, work ethics, and personalities frequently cause frustration and disputes among workers when there is not agreement on how to get the work done. Frances has translated some American culture and work habits to local workers and to their American co-workers (who sometimes forget that there are differences) as well as giving the Americans some outlook on local practices. Frances can assist your staff in seeing that "different" does not mean "wrong" and change can benefit the corporation and the individual.
Here's a partial list of some presentation topics for your staff: 1. When does alcohol use become alcohol abuse? 2. Translating and tailoring anger management to fit host nation culture 3. Communication skills - does "bad" always mean "bad"? 4. Dealing with frustrations 5. HIV/AIDS in the workplace 6. What does time mean to you?
